Death claimed Jacob Reichert, a well-known resident of the town of Schleswig and Kiel, on Friday afternoon, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Balz in the town of Schleswig. He reached the ripe old age of 80 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Deceased was born in Nierstein, Germany, Sept. 27, 1844, and came to America in 1853(8?), as a boy of 12 years with his parents, who settled in the town of Rhine, Sheboygan county. He was united in marriage in 1869 to Katherine Mattes, and the couple made their home on a farm in the town of Schleswig, where they resided until 1902, when they sold the farm and moved to Kiel. Mrs. Reichert passed away in 1906. Since 1922 Mr. Reichert made his home with Mr. and Mrs. John Balz in the town of Schleswig. He always enjoyed good health until shortly before his death.

He possessed a jovial nature, was an obliging neighbor and held in high esteem by his many friends, who enjoyed his companionship.

The following children survive him: Mrs. John Balz of Schleswig, William of Kiel, Jacob near Rockville and Philip in New Holstein; also six grandchildren survive him. Two sons preceded their father in death.

The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, after services in the Reformed church, Rev. W. Rech officiating. Interment in the Rockville cemetery.
