Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, he was the son of William Bradford and Leah Kate (Barnes) Rayburn. His family moved to McAlester when he was a small child. He attended school here until he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he served as a staff sergeant during the war. He married Mada Davis on Sept. 22, 1943, in El Paso, Texas. After the war, he worked for Hughes Tool Company in various areas for a number of years. After retirement from Hughes Tool Company, he returned to McAlester and worked for the state corporation commission as an inspector. He had lived in McAlester for the past 27 years. He passed away at his home at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Mada Rayburn on Sept. 18, 1997.
