Norman J. Rautmann

Norman J. Rautmann, 73, of 10629 Rautmann Road, Kiel, died early Saturday morning, June 3, 1995 at Willowdale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, where he had resided the past two weeks.

He was born Aug. 6, 1921 in the town on Meeme, the son of the late Otto and Alvina Dickman Rautmann.

On May 6, 1950, he married Alrene Trempe at Bethel U.C.C. in the Town of Herman. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig and he was also employed at Kohler Co. from 1949 to his retirement in 1983. He also served on the Schleswig Town Board as treasurer for 20 years. Norman was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II in Hawaii.

He was a member of Bethlehem U.C.C. in the Town of Schleswig.

Survivors included his wife Arlene: five children, Randall of Rural Kiel, Steven (Jane) Rautmann of Kiel, Cynthia (Craig) Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. and Tom J. Rautmann of rural Kiel; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Angie, and Adam Rautmann, Michelle, Rautmann, Christopher and Connie Rautmann, Chad and Heidi Johson; two sisters-in-law, Marzine Rautmann of Ada and Lucille Kielsmeier of Sheboygan. He is also survivor by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucille, and one brother, Jerome.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. Melinda Feller officiating. Burial will be in the Schleswig Cemetery, Rockville. Friends may call at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel, from 4 to 9 p.m Tuesday, and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

A memorial has been established in his name.
