ARNOLD
J. RAPPEL Arnold J. Rappel, 57, of 1622 Atlanta Cir., Manitowoc, died
unexpectedly Sunday morning in Ottumwa, Iowa. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday in Parkside Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in at Holy Innocents Catholic
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded Mr. Rappel by
American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88 of Manitowoc. Mr. Rappel was born Feb.
17, 1922, in the town of Cato, son of the late Joseph and Matilda Hill Rappel.
He was graduated from Reedsville High School with the Class of 1939, and served
in the United States army, 191st Airborne Division, European Operation from 1942
to 1945. He married Clara H. Zimmermann Apr. 15, 1948 in Clarks Mills and worked
at Manitowoc Engineering Company since 1947. He was assistant service manager of
field operations. Mr. Rappel was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 710,
Holy Innocents Parish and the Mens Club of the parish. Survivors include his
wife, Clara, two sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Elaine Rappel of Chetek
and James J. Rappel of Manitowoc; two daughters and sons- in-law, Mary and Dean
M. Morris of Manitowoc and Barbara and Robert J. Kutil of Menomonee Falls; a
brother, Leonard of Manitowoc, four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call in Parkside Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, where a
parish service will be at 7:30 p.m. by members of the parish, Knights of
