OTTO RAPP

Otto Rapp, 41 (sic), of 1017 S. 15th street, employed on Great Lakes
steamships for over a quarter of a century, died at the Marine hospital
in Chicago Sunday afternoon after an illness of four months.
Mr. Rapp, who was to have attained the rank of captain this year, was
taken sick only eight days after the start of the sailing season this
spring. A heart ailment forced his retirement and necessitated his
confinement in the Marine hospital. His last assignment was a first
mate on the Inter Lakes Steamship company's freighter, Campbell. He was
employed by the Cleveland firm since 1915 but had sailed the lakes since
he was 15 years old.
He was born at Sandstone, Minn., Sept. 25, 1896. He married Miss Louise
Gauger Aug. 6, 1924 and the couple had lived here since. Besides the
widow, there is one daughter (private) at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
August Rapp of Sandstone, Minn.; four brothers, George and Carl of Duluth,
Minn., August of Savage, Minn., and Rudolph of Moose Lake, Minn., and one
sister, Mrs. Joe Secard of Duluth, Minn.
The body is being brought to Manitowoc today and will lie in state at the
Pfeffer Funeral Home from Tuesday noon until the hour of the funeral, which
will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the funeral home, with the Rev.
A.C. Fischer in charge. Burial will be at Evergreen.
