Alfred J. Rambadt, 85, of 1010 N. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Sunday evening, November 17, at Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Arno J. Wolfgramm will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Rambadt was born July 2, 1900, in Manitowoc, son of the late Carl and Sophia Waack Rambadt. He attended Manitowoc School System and was a graduate of Manitowoc Business College. Mr. Rambadt worked as a carpenter until 1930 and then he worked for Welch Manufacturing Company until 1935. Mr. Rambadt also worked at Hamilton Manufacturing Company in the Supervisory Capacity until 1965, at which time he retired in the position of Supervisor of the Wood Plant. He married the former Hilda M. Genz on August 22, 1925, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Liberty. Mr. Rambadt was a member of Hamilton Management club, National Management club and the Hamilton Good Fellowship Club. Mr. Rambadt was a lifelong member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church where he has previously been on the church council.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Adeline Rambadt of Manitowoc and Arnold and Hilda Rambadt of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Otis of Milwaukee and Mrs. Esther Nagel of West Allis; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Erna Clasen of Liberty and a brother-in-law, Delvin Groelle of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends also survived. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ida Bauer.
Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 pm to 9 pm Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday from 8:30 am to 11 am and then at the church from noon until the hour of service. Memorials would be appreciated to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or the donors choice.
