WILLIAM E. RAIH (d. 2004)

William E. Raih, age 86, of 805 Forest Circle, Manitowoc, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 12, 2004, at 11 a.m. at First Reformed United Church of Christ. The Rev. Richard Runge will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. William was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Manitowoc, son of the late Matt and Catherine Mott Raih. He married the former Erna Ludwig on March 24, 1941, in Waukegan, Ill. He and his wife own and operated Raih Shell from 1945 until 1970. In 1981, William retired from Manitowoc Engineering Company. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, past member of the church council, ushers and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans #731. Survivors include his wife: Erna Raih, Manitowoc; one daughter: Judith A. Steffen, Manitowoc; one grandson: Thomas F. Steffen Jr., Manitowoc; one great-grandson, Kevin, Kellnersville; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Kenneth and Lorraine Ludwig, Manitowoc; Marcella Gilmore, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Roger Raih; one granddaughter: Candice Steffen; one son-in-law: Thomas Steffen Sr.; one sister: Dottie Stefaniak; and one brother-in-law: Clarence Stefaniak. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, April 12, 2004, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at First Reformed United Church of Christ. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the Raih Family. The Raih family would like to extend a thank you to Holy Family Hospice for the loving care given to William.
