ROY A. RAETHER (d. 2009)

Roy A. Raether, age 92, of 2115 Cappert Road, Manitowoc, went peacefully to be
with the Lord, on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at the Harmony House, Manitowoc.
Roy was born on Feb. 7, 1917, in Manitowoc, son of the late Walter and Matilda
(Volheim) Raether. He attended schools in Manitowoc, and was a graduate of
Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1934. He married the former Marion
Heide on June 6, 1942, in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3,
1991. Roy was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942, and served during World War
II until his discharge in 1946. He worked for Mirro Aluminum Company in their
plating and mirrocraft departments for 46 years until his retirement in 1980.
Roy enjoyed hunting, hiking, beachcombing, making things out of driftwood, flea
markets and auctions.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Marion; one daughter: Rayanne
Corbeil; two brothers: Gordon and Allan Raether; two brothers-in-law: Glen Heide
and Nathaniel Smith; and one sister-in-law: Myrtle Schaeffer.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at the Jens
Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 S. 8th St., Manitowoc. Chaplain Bob Weber
will officiate. Military graveside services will be accorded by the VFW Otto
Oas Post 659 at Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the
time of services at 1 p.m.
On behalf of the family, we want to thank all of the staff at Harmony West of
Manitowoc for their great services. And a special thank you to (private) of
Hospice of Sheboygan for all of their extra tender loving care.
