GEORGE W. RAETHER (d. 1959)

George W. Raether, 73, of 1029 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, died late Wednesday
evening at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after being confined there for the
past five weeks.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical and Reformed
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Paul Blaufuss will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Raether was born May 6, 1886, at Manitowoc, son of the late Julie and Alvina
Struch Raether. He married Phoebe Everson March 9, 1912, and they lived at
Manitowoc. Prior to his retirement in 1955, he was employed at Manitowoc Ship-
building Inc. for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lyle of Key Biscayne, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs.
John L. Kramer of Oshkosh; a brother Arnold of Manitowoc; and three granddaughters.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Friday until
11 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until
the hour of services.
