Member of the "Buffalo Militia". A company of 28 men formed in May of 1870 to protect settlers of Jewell County, Kansas from Cheyenne Indians.

OBITUARY--James Frank Queen
James Frank Queen was born in Winterset, Iowa, July 30, 1853, and passed away, after a short illness at the Deadwood Hospital, October 29, 1941, at the age of 88 years, two months and 29 days.
As a young man he came to Kansas with his parents. Here he was united in marriage to Sadie Post, of Clyde, Kansas, on the 25th of November, 1896. To this union were born one daughter and four sons, all of whom are living.
His wife preceded him in death Nov. 1, 1905. After his wife's death he came to New Haven where he lived for several years. Since that time he has made his home with his son, Oliver Queen, of Sundance, Wyoming.
He leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. John Barnhild of Oklahoma; a brother, William, of Oklahoma; four sons, Oliver Henry Queen and Elmer A. Queen, both of Sundance, Edward Queen of Gillette, and John Queen of Denver; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Balles of McCook, Nebr., and a daughter of a former marriage, Mrs. Mary Jones, of Amarillo, Texas. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and a host of friends.
He was a devoted Christian and a kind and loving father, who was respected by all who knew him. --Sundance, Wyo., newspaper.
