C. E. Prouty, who has been a resident of this city for many years, died at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. George Hastings of Silver Creek, on the 15th of June.
Mr. Prouty was born at Peoria, Ia., December 10th, 1861, later moving to
Lincoln, Nebr., where he resided until recent years when he moved to Fullerton.
He was married to Miss Emma Riley of Beulah, Nebr., March 11th, 1883, to which
union was born 13 children, 12 of whom are still living. Mr. Prouty was buried
at Beulah, Nebr.

C. E. Prouty was born in Peoria, Mahaska Co., Iowa, Dec. 10, 1861. When he was
9 years old the family moved to Lincoln, Nebr. In 1870 they returned to Mr.
Prouty's native town where he lived two years. Then he returned to Nebraska,
where he has since resided.

He was married to Miss Emma Riley at Buelah, Neb., March 11, 1853. To this
union 13 children were born. One died in infancy, the other 12 are living.

Mr. Prouty was a painter by trade and had always enjoyed good health until the
last two years of his life. During that time he was treated at different
hospitals, but recovery was impossible and he died at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Geo. Hastings June 15.

He was a man of strong convictions, of temperate habits, and was strongly
opposed to the drink habit in all its forms. Funeral services were held at the
house Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. R. Pierce and the remains were laid
away in the Buelah cemetery.
