POWLESS:

John F. Powless, 66, of 304 N. Adams St., Green Bay, died Thursday morning, September 2, at St. Mary Hospital, Green Bay.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Harvey will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military rites will be accorded Mr. Powless by VFW Otto Oas Post No. 659.
Mr. Powless was born April 18, 1916, at Oneida, Wis., son of the late Isaac and Margaret Metoxen Powless. He moved to Manitowoc as a child attending local schools and graduating from Lincoln High School in 1937. From 1940 to 1945 he served in the United States Army serving overseas. Mr. Powless returned to Manitowoc and lived here until 1965. While in Manitowoc he was employe at Invincible Metal Furniture Company. In 1965 he moved to Green Bay where he was employed with the United States Post Office retiring in 1978. Mr. Powless was a former member of St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc, a member of VFW Otto Oas Post No. 659 of Manitowoc.
Survivors include three sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys M. Dehne, Hazel M. Cornelius, and Carol and Reginald Baird of Manitowoc; a niece and several nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Swetlick.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Friday afternoon and Saturday until 10:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held 7:30 o'clock this Friday evening by Father William Harvey.
