John C. Poulos, 71, of 502 Cleveland Ave., Manitowoc, died Wednesday
at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Nicholas Liberis, of Holy Trinity Church, Fond du Lac, will
officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Poulos was born Jan. 7, 1897, in Greece, son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Christ Poulos. In 1913, he came to the United States and settled
at Green Bay. Four years later, he moved to Manitowoc. He married
Magdeline Porubcansky in August, 1923, at Chicago. Until 1948, he owned
and operated Wisconsin Shoe Repair, Manitowoc. He was presently owner
of Colonial Inn Restaurant, Manitowoc.
He was a member of Manitowoc-Two Rivers Shrine Club, Fraternal Order of
Eagles Aerie 706, Tripoli Temple, Knights Templar, Royal Arch, Masons,
Royal and Select Masters and Wisconsin Restaurant Assn.
Mr. Poulos is survived by his wife; a son, two daughters (Survivors
omitted for privacy.); two brothers and a sister in Greece and six
grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday until 1:30
Friday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will
lie in state until time of service. Masonic services will be held at
7:30 p.m. Thursday. A John C. Poulos Memorial Fund has been instituted
for Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children.
