Darwin J. Popelar, age 81, of St. Mary's Home, formerly of 2012 Richmond
Ave., Manitowoc, died Friday, January 15, 1999, at St. Mary's Home,
Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 1999, at
Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated by Rev. Mathew Simonar with burial to follow in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Darwin was born June 10, 1917, in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County,
son of the late Michael and Anna Oswald Popelar. He married Helen C.
Reindl, on September 17, 1940, in Kellnersville. He was employed with
the Foley Company for 29 years retiring in 1982. He served with the
United States Army during World War II. Darwin was a member of Holy
Innocents Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Popelar, Manitowoc, four children,
Betty (Ronald) Rogen, LaValle, Wis., Carol (Leo) Tisler, Whitelaw, Mary
Ann (Dennis) Steele, Bloomington, Minn., Michael (Sherry) Popelar, St.
Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers,
Gordon (Viola) Popelar, Manitowoc, Clarence (Florence) Popelar,
Manitowoc; one sister, Florence (Victor) Baumann, Whitelaw; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in
death by one sister, Grace Schamburk.
Friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, on Sunday from
5-8 p.m. and then at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of
services at 10 a.m.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
