ADOLPH POLIVKA

Adolph Polivka, 65, of 1817 New York Ave., Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon at
Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be
at 1:30 pm Monday at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, the Rev. Gervase Zanotti
officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside military
rites will be conducted by members of the American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No.
88 of Manitowoc.
Mr. Polivka was born May 12, 1896 at Kellnersville, son of the late Wenzel and
Anna Chermak Polivka. He attended schools in the Town of Franklin and as a young
man was engaged as a cheesemaker in the Town of Kossuth, and also worked in the
carpentry trade for many years. He married Alice Pech in 1918 and the following
year he operated a tavern at Polivka's Corners in the Town of Kossuth until 1943.
In recent years he was employed as a caretaker at the Manitowoc County
Fairgrounds.
He married Mrs. Mary Yindra in 1944. Mr. Polivka was a member of the American
Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88 of Manitowoc and ZCBJ Lodge No. 99 of Polivka's
Corners. He served with the Army Engineers during World War I.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Harvey of Manitowoc; a step-son, Joseph Jindra
of Manitowoc; a brother, Louis J. of Manitowoc and four grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home until the time of service.

The marriage of Miss Alice Pech of this place and Mr. Adolph Polivka
of Polivka’s Corners, was solemnized at the office of probate court
Tuesday, Nov. 26, Judge John Chloupek officiating. William Pech,
brother of the bride and Miss Tillie Petska were the attending couple.
The happy couple are both well known young people of this part of the
county and will reside at Polivka’s Corners where the groom operates
a farm and saloon in connection. The correspondent joins their many
friends in extending best wishes for their success and happiness as
they journey together down the pathway of life.
