Betty Jane was born on May 9, 1925 to John and Mary Ida Perdue Gonsey. Betty was the eldest of four children. Her parents later had one son William "Bill", and two daughters Joyce and Delores.
When Betty was 16 she married Forrest Pletcher. Betty and Forrest had five children Charles Forrest, Marylou, Elaine Marie, Richard, and Arthur Eugene. In an effort to raise his family Forrest received a job at Great Lakes Steele and Betty stayed home with the kids, and was a great stay at home mom. When ever her children or Husband needed anything she was on the job, always to be sure that her home was a happy one.
In her spare time Betty enjoyed reading and listening to Johnny Cash. She was also an avid Christian, and taught her children and grandchildren everything she knew about the bible. As the years went on those five children turned into eight grandchildren who she loved dearly. Her beloved husband Forrest passed in 1989. As Betty got older she started developing Alzheimer's, and it did nothing but get worse, she moved into an apartment in Westland, but after several years it became to hard to handle and she moved in with her daughter Mary who was sure to always be there whenever her mother needed her. Betty spent the last few years of her life in a nursing home in Riverview.
Betty was also very well known for her cooking especially her baked goods. She would spend days cooking for big Holidays, always to be sure that anyone who entered her house was always well fed. Betty is also survived by ten great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

"It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again."
