Elise (Ella) Lydia Maria Piper, the daughter of Emil Meister and Henrietta, nee Oehler was born in Madison county, Iowa on November 26, 1883. She was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter, on February 26, 1884 and confirmed on April 11, 1897. She received her education in the Penn township schools.

On February 22, 1911, she was married to John Piper. Two children were born to this union. Mr. Piper passed away on April 15, 1940.

Ella was a life-long member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter and had taught in the Sunday School for almost 50 years. She was also a charter member of the Lutheran Ladies' Aid. She was also a member of the Iris Garden Club.

Ella passed away at the Dexter Clinic Hospital on Tuesday, October 17 at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 21 days. She is survived by one daughter, Helen, Mrs. Paul Clausen of Dexter, one son Kirtland, of Perry and one grandson, and one brother, Franz Meister of Coon Rapids.

Memorial services were held at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 19 with the Rev. Norman M. Luecht officiating. Interment was in the Dexter Cemetery under the direction of Evans Service. Casketbearers were: Leonard Scar, Robert Marsh, James Adkins, Jr., Harold Jobst, Carl Jobst and Alvin Scar.
