William C. Pierce, 86, a county resident 45 years, died Saturday at his home, 1836 N Ave., National City. He was born in Cambria, Calif.
Pierce mined for gold from California to Mexico for more than 50 years. He formerly was a cowboy.
Pierce and his wife, Susie, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last Nov. 6.
Surviving besides his widow are two sons, including Claude C., of National City, and two sisters, including Mrs. Stella Walker, of San Diego; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
