Funeral services for John S. Piaskowski, 75, of 1134 S. 21st St.,
Manitowoc, who died Thursday at home, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday
at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John S. Landowski will officiate and
burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Piaskowski was born Oct. 9, 1893, at Alpena, Mich., son of the
late Victor and Barbara Neumann Piaskowski, and was a veteran of
World War I, having served in France with the 43rd Co., 20th
Engineers of the U.S. Army. He came to Manitowoc in 1921 and married
Serena G. Ziarnik Aug. 30, 1921, at St. Mary. He worked for Mirro
Aluminum Co. from 1921 until 1942 when he became owner-operator of
Jack's Beer Garden, retiring in 1958. He was a member of the Holy
Name Society, American Legion, Drews-Bleser Post No. 88, and the
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Otto Oas Post, No. 659.
Survivors include his wife; a son, (private), and a daughter,
(private), of Manitowoc; a brother, Theodore, and a sister, Mrs.
Phyllis Carriveau, of Alpena; and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home this Friday evening where at
7:30 o'clock the Rosary will be recited by members of the HNS and
Knights of Columbus Council No. 710.
