Harry "Grant" Penrod

Harry Grant Penrod, 86, died Saturday, March 22, 2003.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a veteran of WWII where he was wounded two times; the first when he was shot and would have been killed had it not been for a pocket bible that he carried in his shirt pocket. The second time he was hit by mortar in the head. He worked many jobs in his life such as helping build highway 60 between Show Low and Globe. He also worked as a lumber grader at the McNary mill and a custodian at the Mesa School until he retired at the age of 79. Mr. Penrod loved working outdoors as well as playing the piano. He and his brother Edwin used to play for dances in the Show Low area when he was young.
