Absolutely unbelievable!

Started doing some research on Dr. Pelton. His second wife, Catherine Duffy Clauder, was my grandmother's aunt. When my grandmother's mother died in childbirth, Catherine raised her. So, in a way, so did Dr. Pelton. He gave her away when my grandparents were married.

I've always been curious about why his tombstone doesn't have his date of death. Now I know! He isn't buried there. I found his obituary - in the Los Angeles Times! He lived to be 87 and died in Los Angeles. He's buried in Hollywood. What's really interesting to me is that evidently he's buried at Hollywood Forever. I grew up in the LA area and whenever my husband and I go visit we stop by that cemetery. It's one of the most interesting ones I've ever been to. Stars that want to be stars after death are buried there. They even give maps out at the gate to where the "big" names are. Valentino, Fairbanks and the likes are there. Arthur Pelton isn't listed on Find A Grave as being there but that's what his obituary says. Actually it says Hollywood Memorial Cemetery but that's was it's name in the 1930s.

My mother told me a story once that she and her mother took a trip to LA when she was a child. She was kind of vague on who they visited but I got the impression that it was a relative of my grandmothers. In all my research I had never figured out who was in LA. Now I know.

Sorry about rambling on but I had to tell someone. Now I've got to convince my husband that we need to make a trip to LA (we're in Arizona).

Actually, my real reason for all this is that you might want to mention it on his memorial. He died 7 September 1931 at his home in LA.
