Will Nuckolls May Recover
Man Thought To Be Murdered Revived and Was Beter Last Night
~~Although left for dead, Will T Nuckolls, the young farmer shot by his overseer, Charlie Stamps, late Tuesday night, revived sufficiently to respond readily to treatment administered by the attending physician yesterday morning and last night was conscious and had a very good chance to recover. Stamps, who declared Tuesday night that he had killed Nuckolls, was greatly surprized and relieved yesterday to learn that the man was still alive, he hardly realizing that such could have been the case. Nuckolls was shot through the neck by a .22 calibre bullet from a pistol and although the wound was an exceedingly ugly one, the doctor say at once that prompt measures might save his life. He remained with the injured man all day, returning to Columbus last night, and will go back to his bedside this morning. As soon as notified of the affair yesterday morning, Sollcito Palmer sent County Officers, Layfield and Ellison went to the farm where the shooting took place, but they were unable to learn anything in connection with the matter.

W T Nuckolls Passes Away
Prominent Planter Well Known in Columbus Died after Long Illness
Funeral Occurs in Columbus Tomorrow
Remains Be Brought to This City and Interred in Linwood With Masonic Honors
~~Mr Will T Nuckolls, one of the most prominent planters in Muscogee County passed away this morning 1t 4:30 o'clock at his home at Kyle's Bend about six miles from the city after a protracted illness. Mr Nuckolls has been in ill health for about two or three years, after having sustained a stroke of paralysis some time ago from which he had never fully recovered; and it is thought that his demise was caused from heart failure superinduced by the paralytic stroke. It will be remembered that Mr. Nuckolls was shot by a man some some months ago sustaining serious injuries from which, it is said, he never fully recovered. The deceased gentleman was about 45 yeas of age at the time of his death and was one of the best known and most highly esteemed agriculturists in this section of west Georgia and east Alabama. He owned an extensive plantation in this county and stood very highly among all who knew him. He was a member of one of the oldest families in this section, his relatives having been prominently identified with the early developments of Columbus and Muscogee County. He was a member of the Mt Herman lodge of Masons and this order will take charge of the funeral services Saturday. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, and one sister Mrs J L Wilcox of Montgomery.
