| Birth: | Mar. 3, 1934 Cleveland County North Carolina, USA | | Death: | Feb. 17, 2005 Charlotte Mecklenburg County North Carolina, USA |  SHELBY — Mr. Gilbert Gene Noblitt, 70, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born March 3, 1934, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Marvin “Flop” Noblitt and Annie Belle Rabb Noblitt. He ran a truck route for Sunbeam Bakery for almost 20 years, then he had a distributorship with Murray Cookie Co. Later, he enjoyed traveling the Northeast selling rugs and furniture at large craft shows.
He was a member of Shelby First Church of the Nazarene. He was one of the founding members of the Shelby Rescue Squad and remained active for 30 years. He was also one of the founding members of The Foothills Detachment Marine Corps League. He also served in the Marines & served on the Board of Directors of Broad River Genealogical Society.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Lee Noblitt, and a brother, Floyd Fowler.
He is survived by a son and wife of Salem, Ohio; a brother and wife of Lancaster, S.C.; two grandchildren of Ohio; a great-grandson of Ohio; and a special friend.
A graveside service, with full Marine military honors, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park, with Evangelist John O. Cohen officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 5 to 7 and at other times at the home.
