Nanson, George Elmer 82, passed away on August 21, 2010 in his Irving home. He was born on November 14, 1927 in Clayton, ID. George had lived most of his life in Irving where he attended MacArthur Blvd. Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired from IBM as a Field Engineer Specialist after 33 years of service in 1988. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Sorrells Nanson. He is survived by his children, Paul Nanson and wife, Sharon of Colleyville, Julia Hix and husband, Keith of Longview, Michael Nanson of Irving, Jerry Nanson and wife, Marianna of Colleyville, sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sister, Geri McGee of Reno, NV., and brother, Floyd Nanson of Dallas, TX. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:30PM-8:00PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 10:00AM at Chapel of Roses Funeral Home, 1225 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX. 75060. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, TX.
