Fall From Car Fatal to Carl Myers of Sligo
A verdict of accidental death was issued by Dr. H.M. Wellman, coroner, in the death of Carl H. Myers, 41, of Sligo, who died Saturday afternoon as the result of injuries received when he fell from his car about 12:30 a.m. Friday.
According to Cpl. Paul Winger of the State Police, who investigated the accident, Myers and his wife were returning from New Bethlehem. Myers had asked his wife to drive. She stopped for the stop sign on highway 68 near the County Home. Mrs. Myers had crossed the highway and as the car reached the blacktop pavement leading to Shamburg, the car door opened and Myers fell out. The car is believed to have been moving slowly at the time.
Myers' skull was fractured by the fall, and he died in the afternoon of the following day.
Mr. Myers was born in Monroe township, November 8, 1904. He was a resident of New Bethlehem for fifteen years and was engaged in electrical contracting and had been manager of the Leatherwood Telephone company for the past eight years. He lived in the Sligo vicinity for the last seven years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Wensel of Sligo; one daughter, Norma; a son, Robert;his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Myers of Sligo; a sister, Mrs. Thomas A. Craig; and a brother, Vernon, the latter two of New Bethlehem.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 o'clock from the home, conducted by Rev. James W. Fraser of the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. Elder D. Crawford of Callensburg. Interment was in Sligo cemetery.
Carl Hamilton Myers
Carl Hamilton Myers, 41, passed away early Saturday morning, March 16, 1946 at his home near Sligo, Pa. Death was the result of a fractured skull sustained the morning of March 15.
Mr. Myers was born in Monroe Township November 8, 1904. He was well known and much respected by everyone who knew him. A citizen of New Bethlehem for 15 years, he was engaged in electrical contracting and for eight years was manager of the Leatherwood Telephone Company. For the past seven years he resided in the Sligo vicinity.
The high esteem in which he was held was attested to by the many floral tributes and visitors in the home.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Wensel of Sligo; one daughter, Norma, and one son, Robert; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Myers of Sligo; one sister, Mrs. Thomas A. Craig, and one brother, Vernon E. Myers, both of New Bethlehem.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. from his late home, conducted by Dr. James Wallace Fraser, pastor of the Presbyterian church, New Bethlehem, assisted by the Rev. Elder D. Crawford of Callensburg. Interment was in the Sligo cemetery under the direction of Mortician Guy Hawk.
