Sports Broadcaster. Born in New York City, for nearly four decades he was known as the NBA's radio voice of the Boston Celtics. In 1953, he stepped into the broadcast booth as the team's primary announcer and remained the franchise's identifiable figure until he retired after the 1990 season. He also was the track announcer at the Norwood Arena Stock Car Track (1963-66) and called races in 1978 at the former Plainfield Greyhound Park in Connecticut. He died of a heart attack at age 69 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. In 2002, he was posthumously inducted into the media sector of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
