MARY LOU (FISHER) MESSIER SOUTH BURLINGTON — Mary Lou (Fisher) Messier, 65, of S. Burlington died peacefully in Burlington surrounded by her family Jan. 2, 2002.

She was born in Burlington on June 10, 1936, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Bourassa) Fisher.

Mary Lou graduated from St. Joseph (Nazareth) School and Cathedral High School in 1954.

Following high school, she worked at Vermont Hardware . After raising nine children, she worked as the secretary of St. Joseph School for eight years. She then worked in sales at George Little Press and Offset House until her recent retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph parish.

Mary Lou is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael Messier and Sue Moore, and Stephen Messier and Sally Deuso, all of Cambridge, Jeanne and Randy Chicoine of South Burlington, Roger and Sandy Messier of Manteca, Ca., John Messier of Williston, Dan and Denise Messier of Panama City, Fla., Laurie Messier of Colchester, Sue Messier of Williston, and David Messier and Bianca Graham of South Burlington; her sisters and brothers and their spouses, Jacqueline MacKenzie of Cumberland, R.I., Marie "Babe" Spaulding of Burlington, Nancy Akey of Burlington, Robert and Jane Fisher of Fairfax, Vt., Katie and Pete Fisher of Stowe, Vt., Jeanne and Norm Lefebvre of Westfield, Ma., John and Kathy Fisher, Cindy Lovejoy, David and Claudette Fisher, and Richard Fisher, all of Burlington, and Patricia and Bill Mahaney of Durham, N.C.; a sister-inlaw, Peggy Fisher of Burlington; her grandchildren, Danielle, Michael and Christine Chicoine, Marissa Mayette, Katherine Sarah Messier, Meghan, Jason, and Stephen Messier, Danielle and Josh Russin, and Katina Messier; two aunts, Leona and Eva Bourassa, both of Winooski; many nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews; and cousins. Mary Lou was predeceased by a sister, Janice Canole; and a brother, Joseph Fisher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Co Cathedral. Interment will follow in New Mount. Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home, 85 N. Winooski Ave., Burlington, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
