Joshua Parrish McKay was born in Natchez Mississippi on January 5, 1979 to Rev. Roy Lee McKay and Marcia Ann Parrish McKay of Aberdeen MS. He passed away on June 16, 2013 in Meridianville, Alabama.

Besides his parents, Josh leaves behind a large family who loved him, especially his brother Matthew and his wife Hannah McKay and their son Isaac (Oklahoma City).

On his father's side he is survived by his grandfather Dr. Vernon McKay (Aberdeen), his uncle Dr. Jim (Marcy) McKay (Ft Worth TX), his aunt Marilynn (Roger) Ormson (Barron WI), and his cousins Stacy (Dr. Steve) Wood (Weatherford TX), Teresa (Jon) Willis (Ft Worth), Dr. Reagann (Jon) McCreary (Dallas), and Julie Walker and James (Stephanie) Ormson (Barron WI).

On his mother's side he leaves his grandmother Maurice Parrish and his aunts Donna Sue Parrish (Jimmy) Norris, Nannette Jackson Parrish, and Cindy Parrish Dorosh, all of Starkville, and Lisa Parrish (Nathan) Turner of Tupelo. He also leaves his cousins Andy (Heather) Parrish (Pheba MS), Carla Parrish (Birmingham), Jay Norris (Starkville), and Dee Lewis and Cody Turner (Tupelo).

After his early years in Mississippi when his father was a pastor, Josh grew up in the Philippines and Germany where his parents were serving as missionaries. Josh was home schooled in the Philippines by his mother, then attended public school in Herford, Germany, beginning in the fifth grade (where he learned to speak, read, and write German). He then attended the Black Forest Academy in Kandern, Germany, for two years of high school. After his parents returned to local church service in the US, Josh graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery AL in 1997, then attended Mississippi State University in Starkville. After he CLEPed three years of German and was an intern at the German Stock Exchange (Deutsche Boerse) in Frankfurt, he graduated magna cum laude with a BA in German and a BBA in International Business in December 2002. He was then hired by the US Army as a DOD civilian in 2003. After initial training, Josh worked as a Logistics Management Specialist for the Army Material Command – Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) at Redstone Arsenal, Hunstville AL. He was awarded a Master of Business Degree through the Army Fellows Program at Texas A&M University, Texarkana, in 2009. Josh served two tours of duty in Kuwait and one in Iraq and received many awards for his work. He attained the rank of GS-13.

His funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 19th at Welch Funeral Home, 201 W Lampkin St, Starkville MS 39759 with visitation from 12:00 to 3:00pm and the funeral service at 3:00pm.
