William Oliver McDaniel died at his home in Jasper at 6 o'clock Monday evening after a long illness. He had been bedfast for the past six weeks.
Mr. McDaniel was born February 8, 1879, in Dallas County, Missouri. He came to Jasper from a farm near Golden City about 14 years ago. He was a night watchman at the Borden Dry Milk plant in Jasper for nine years. For the past two years he has been unable to work. He was a member of the Jasper Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna McDaniel; three sons, Ernest McDaniel of Jasper, Gilbert McDaniel of Springfield, and Loyd McDaniel of Joplin; two daughters, Mrs. Leona Setzer of Joplin and Mrs. Bernice Houck of Jasper; four brothers, Roy, Riley, and Adam McDaniel of Buffalo, Mo.; and Gus McDaniel of Kansas City; two sisters, Mrs. Iva Glenn of Kansas City and Mrs. Edith Agee of California; one granddaughter; and four grandsons.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist Church with Rev. George Johnson in charge. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Teeter Bros. Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers were Leo Shelton, Paul Weatherly, Clifford Wright, Bryan Tiller, Noel Smith and James Hern.
A male quartet, J. R. Bowers, Gilbert Goss, Howard Allen, and Cap Joyce sang, "In the Sweet By and By," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder." Mrs. Helen Steelman was at the piano.
