January 13, 1909: John Y. McBrayer, one of the best known citizens of St. Clair County, died at his home at St. Clair Springs on Monday, December 28th, 1908. He was 61 years of age. Bro. McBrayer was an upright, honest and substantial citizen, a faithful loving and true friend, an Odd Fellow, and a sonsistent, earnest and devout Christian. He was buried at Evergreen where a large concourse of his friends and acquaintances had gathered to do honor to his memory.
