VANDALIA RESIDENT ERNEST E. MAIDEN, 92, DIES

VANDALIA - Ernest E. Maiden, 92, of Vandalia, died Tuesday, June 20, 1992 at Regional Hospital in Hannibal. He had worked at Walsh Refractories (now, Harbison-Walker) as a kiln operator. Later, he was a real estate dealer.

He had resided in Vandalia since moving from Curryville 15 years ago.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at WAters Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Hoehn will officiate and burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Maiden was born at Perry, Okla., on Feb. 15, 1900, to Lee and Margaret Bernie Dowell Maiden. He was married in Farmer, Mo., on December 31, 1927, to Flossie Blansett, who died July 7, 1973.

Surviving are two sons, Albert Maiden of Vandalia and Robert Maiden of Hannibal; three daughters, Alma Jean Hickerson of Hazelwood, Mary Nelson of Vandalia and Jo Ann Powers of St. Peters; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A son, Bennett Maiden; and grandson, Bradford Maiden, preceded him in death.

Mr. Maiden was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia, Odd Fellows Lodge 335 and Rebekah Lodge 280 of Vandalia an, the Knights of Pythias
