Served as a Private in Captain James Atkinson's company of infantry, the 29th Virginia Militia in the war of 1812, later was in Charles Wrenn's Company of the same regiment and served with distinction. Husband of Martha Drew. Owned and operated Mahone Tavern in Courtland. Father of Confederate General William Mahone.
