Captured at Donaldsonville, Louisiana June 28th 1863 and delivered to the Confederate States authorities July 6, 1863 at City Point, Virginia. Eventually discharged at Millican Texas.

Jacob W Long's parents were James Long b. 1800 d. ___ (some say 1883) and Sarah Whiteside. They married in 1822 in Rutherford Co. NC. They moved to GA about 1839, then to TX in 1851.
