RAYMOND LONG, 14, SUMMONED AT HOME
Funeral services for Raymond Long will probably be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning, the boy's father said Thursday noon.
A shock to the community this week was the death, from an undetermined cause, of 12-year-old Raymond Lee Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Long. The lad's death occurred at the family home four miles up the river, at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday after an illness of 24 hours. He had appeared in excellent health until becoming ill Monday morning. When it became obvious that he was seriously ill Tuesday morning, the boy's father went to the nearby Hal Park Ranch where he called Dr. J.E. Andes. The boy was dead by the time the doctor reached the home. An autopsy was to be performed.
Raymond was born here January 3, 1937 and was one of seven children. He was a student in the sixth grade at Rincon School. Surviving, besides the parents, are four sisters, Mrs. Clara Laree Dotson of Cottonwood; Mrs. Wilma Frances Taylor of Scottsdale; Sara Ellen, 10 and Helen Louise, 4. His oldest brother, Clarence, jr., is serving with the 19th Infantry in Japan while the other brother, William E. 14, is at home.
Funeral arrangements were pending as The SUN went to press, awaiting receipt of word from the brother in Japan. The body was taken to the Wickenburg Mortuary.
