Magnus Lauritzen, a young danish male from Loejt at Aabenraa, where his parents and his siblings are living, arrived this winter at this region from Hartford, Conn., where he had resided for some years, and now he worked on Hemmerlings Farm near Dike. July 4th he arrived here to visit a young man, Christen Christensen, who arrived here from Hartford, Conn., a couple of months ago and had got a job on Beaver Valley Farm.

Magnus Lauritzen made the trip on bicycle, and after having had dinner in this town, he headed for the Beaver Walley Farm. Arriving there, the farmhands had gone bathing in the Beaver Creek, and he went out to find them. They had finished bathing as he met them but they said they would be waiting for him when he said that he would like a bath. However he disappeared after having jumped into the water, and a while had past, until the other farmhands realized that something was not right, after this some time passed before they managed to find his body. They were working with it for some time, to try to bring him back to life, but in vain, and the called doctor could do nothing as well.

Whether M.L. has had the cramps after entering the water, or the cause of death was due to, that he when jumping into the water had hurt himself, which some contusions on the body could indicate, is unknown.

His body was taken to this town, and Sunday he was buried from the Church of Nazareth, where sympathetic fellow countrymen and fellow countrywomen had appeared, and where pastor Proevensen talked at his coffin. Later P. (Proevensen) administered at the grave on the Greenwood Cemetary.

The person, who knew the deceased best, probably was Joerg. Jepsen, Dike, as they came from the same parish way back home, and he and others, who knew M. L., mentiones him as a rarely seen nice and promising young man. The day, when he died, he had decided to send money for a brother, who wanted to go over here, and last year he sent money home for his parents to assist them with a building project.
