~~Co. Descriptive Book-24yrs, 5'8", fair complexion, grey eyes, black hair, b. Buncombe Co. N.C., Farmer; enlisted 11 Aug 1862, Syracuse MO.
REMARKS: DIED, 9 May at Paducah KY 1863. Disease not known.
~~Hospital Casualty Sheet- "Inventory of Effects-signed by H. Hard, A.A. Surgeon in charge of Hospital (on file in 29th Aud. Ofc). shows 'SAMUEL LANCE, PVT, Co I, 29 MO Vol died at Stearns Hospital, Paducah KY 23 Jan 1863 of gunshot wound received 29 Dec 1862 at Vicksburg." {NOTE:"Roll of Honor, Vol 18, page 243 states, Pvt Samuel Lance, Co I, 29th MO Vol, died *21 Jan 1863, Paducah KY.}
~~June 12, 1865- Co. Muster-Out Roll, Washington D.C.-24yrs, last paid to 31 Oct 1862, $25 Bounty paid, $29.11 drawn since enlistment, due $75; DIED at Paducah KY of wounds, 9 May 1863.
