Civil War Union Soldier. Served during the Civil War as 1st Sergeant of Company I, 114th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, being mustered in on July 25, 1862, and being discharged due to disability on August 29, 1864. He had first joined Company D, 116th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on June 13, 1862, but was enrolled in the 114th PA the next month.

He also served as a Private in Battery A, Kentucky Independent Light Artillery.

In memory of my Great, Great, Great- Grandfather. You may add to his record that he was shot in the head, and survived, while traveling with this battalion north. Later he was captured at Gettysburg and escaped.
