Hazel Thelma Knuckles was born February 18, 1923 in Jacks Fork, MO on Little Shawnee near
Eminence, MO, the daughter of Arthur Pogue and Alma (Woodward) Pogue. She departed this
life June 27, 2011 at her home in West Plains, MO at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 9 days.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Bowen in 1941 and to this union one son was born,
James. Hazel later married Milo Price Knuckles on April 8, 1959 in St. Louis, MO and to this

union two daughters were born Sandra Pauline and Cynthia Sue.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Alma Pogue; her husband Milo
Knuckles; one son James Arthur Bowen; two brothers David and Calvin Pogue and one sister
Maxine Camden.
She is survived by two daughters Sandra Pauline Neal and husband John of Columbia, MO
and Cynthia Sue Knuckles and Kevin Puckett of West Plains, MO; one daughter in law Joanne
Bowen of Celina, OH; five grandchildren Jason Buford of Kansas City, MO; Trevor Buford
and wife Anneke of Columbia, MO, Charles Neal of Columbia, MO, Kimberly Adams and
husband Michael of Celina, OH and Kristin Huelsmann and husband Mark of Celina, OH; two
great grandchildren Brayton and Brecken Adams of Celina, OH; and a host of other family and
friends.
Hazel was baptized in 1967 in the General Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, quilting and loved her flowers. Hazel attended Bethany Chapel on Little Shawnee for many years.
She was a loving mother who had a strong faith in God and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in
Eminence, MO with Rev. Dion Prewett officiating. Interment was in Bethany Chapel Cemetery
in Eminence, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes.
