A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Macy & Son, McMinnville, OR for Polly Knickerbocker Giesy.

Mrs. Giesy was born to Clifford and Usona Knickerbocker September 12, 1922 and attended local schools graduating from Linfield College in 1944. She then moved to Portland where she was employed by KWJJ, broadcasting several live shows including a woman's cooking program, a children's half-hour, a Salon Ensemble and WAAC recruiting show. She then joined a local advertising agency as Radio-TV Director; there she met her future husband John Giesy. They were married in 1952 and lived in Lake Oswego until his death in 1983. In 1991 she returned to McMinnville and became involved in many activities, including serving on the finance committee for a new Senior Center and volunteering for Habit for Humanity. An avid golfer, she was a member of Michelbook Country Club, P.E.O. Chapter FG, Current Event Club and City Club. Mrs. Giesy loved McMinnville and was fond of saying, "I enjoyed growing up here as well as growing old here." She was preceded in death by her husband and son Paul Giesy who died in 1998 and is survived by son Philip Giesy, grandchildren Christopher and Adrian, niece and nephew Linda and Ron; future daughter-in-law Christina and her family and a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. The family suggests remembrances to Habitat for Humanity, Henderson House, or First Presbyterian Church.
