Joseph Kies (born in Killingly, CT, son of Daniel and Abigail Kee)was a Rev. War Veteran. (see Memorial stone at Dry Creek Cemetery in Moravia). Joseph was a joiner (carpenter) and married Mary Nichols in NH in 1773 when they then lived in New Plainfield, NH. They moved back to Windham Co., CT, and had 6 children: Charlotte, George W., Stephen, Alpheus, John and Freeman. They moved to Moravia around 1805.
