Paul James Kennedy passed away on July 24th, 1999 in Salt Lake City after a brief illness.

He was born on June 6, 1912 in Randolph, Utah to James D. Kennedy and Phoebe Smith Kennedy. He married Marguerite Bowns Beach on November 8, 1947 at Almy, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He attended elementary and high school in Randolph and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hydraulic Engineering from Utah State University. He spent many years as a rancher around Randolph. He served in the United States Army during World War II.In 1949, Paul began a 28 year career with the Bureau of Reclamation in Riverton, Wyoming, working on various irrigation projects in the Riverton area. He also worked as an independent surveyor in Riverton and in the Gas Hills uranium area. In 1966 he was transferred to Bismark, North Dakota to work on the Garrison Dam project. He retired from the BuRec in 1977 and moved to Salt Lake City with his wife Marguerite. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, leather work, and especially working on his custom designed rifles.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, John L. Beach (Judy) of Rock Springs, Wyoming and James J. Kennedy (DeAnn) of Sandy, Utah. In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by six grandchildren, Kristen Schafer, Carrie Beach-Magruder, Corey Radman, James P. Kennedy, Janice M. Kennedy, and Christine M. Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Dreyton and Marleise Schafer; two sisters, Willa McKinnon of Randolph and Elaine (Ray) Cox of Woodruff, Utah; a brother and sister-in-law, J. Wilburn and Charlene Bowns of Almy, Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and one brother, Eugene Kennedy, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. (July 27, 1999) in the Mount Olympus First Ward, 4635 S. Lanark Rd. (3315 East), where friends may call Tuesday 9 to 10:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Randolph Cemetery, Randolph, UT. Funeral directors, Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
