Son of James & Alma Kahler.
Married to Helen "Billie" Smith in 1937 at Grand Island, NE.
After graduation from Grand Island,NE. High School, he attended the University of Nebraska where he played football. He and his brother both played in the 1940 Rose Bowl, Mr. Kahler as tackle and his brother, Bob as kicker. Mr. Kahler was known as "King Kong Kahler" during his football career. He left the University before graduating to play pro ball with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers, but not before setting several records in Track and Field. His pro ball career was cut short due to injuries. After leaving football he entered civil service and worked as a senior safety engineer for ammunition plants in several different cities, before coming to work for Pantex in 1972. He retired from Pantex in 1986. Mr. Kahler took a very active part in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending all sporting events. He treated each of his "kids" to vacations at the lake home that he had built in Nebraska. He was a Methodist.
