Following the death of her mother, her father married LaVere Youmans, who raised Ms. Johnson as her own. Following graduation from Winterset High School in 1948, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she met and married Milo Johnson.
In 1974, he took a job in Cheyenne, where she worked for Gator Industries for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1881 ladies auxiliary. She enjoyed baseball, watching Nascar and attending Saturday night races.
Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, mother, parents and a son, Chet.
She is survived by two daughters, Chris of Iowa and Sandy of Nevada; a son, Howard of Cheyenne; two brothers, Karl and Robert Cumings; a sister, Pam Madison; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
