Johnson
Mrs. Caroline Johnson, one of the pioneer residents of Webster county and Swede Bend, passed away at her home Tuesday, July 23, 1912, at tho ripe old age of 84 years, 8 months and 30 days. Deceased was born in Tjorstad Parish, Ostergottland, Sweden, October 24, 1827, and emigrated to this country in the spring of 1853, settling in Swede Bend. In the year 1853 she was united in marriage to Daniel Johnson. To this union eight children were born—three boys and five girls—of whom five are still living. Besides these she leaves five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, other relatives and numerous friends to mourn her departure. The children are Sophia Havenor of near Vancouver, Washington, Mrs. Louis McGowan of Linnburg, Otto and Alf. Johnson of near Stratford and P.D. Johnson of Linnburg.
Tho funeral services we're held at the residence Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. Albertson, and the remains were laid to rest in the Swede Bend cemetery.

OBITUARY
Caroline Stark was born in Charstad, Östergötland, Sweden, October 24, 1827, and passed away at her home in Hardin Township, July 23, 1912, aged 84 years, 8 months, 29 days. She grew to womanhood in her native land where she was married in the spring of 1853 to Daniel Johnson. That same year they came to this country, and settled upon the old homestead in Hardin Township, where she lived until her death. Her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond April 8, 1908. Eight children were born of their union, five daughters and three sons. Three daughters have gone before her, the three sons and two daughters, together with five grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive to mourn her death. Her funeral was held last Thursday from the M.E. church at Stratford, Rev. Albertson conducting the services, and her remains were laid to rest by those of her husband in Swede Bend cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was loved and respected by all who knew her, and a host of friends of the family join in extending them sympathy in their bereavement. She lived well her life for her community, and truly earned the peace that rewards the good deeds of her activity.

Gravesite Details
The cemetery lot owned by Daniel Johnson is outlined in stone with a large bush in the southeast corner of the lot. No gravestones are on the lot.
