OBITUARY
Anna Carrie Sund was born in Sweden November 30, 1818, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Schill in Harcourt, Iowa, January 28, 1902, aged 83 years, 1 month, and twenty-eight days. She was married to Jonas Johnson in 1842, and together they emigrated to America in 1850. They settled in Swede Bend where they lived until a few years ago. Her husband passed away about three years ago, and she has lived since with her children. The funeral was held on Wednesday at the home of Mr. Schill, Rev. Stromberg of the Swedish M.E. church conducting the exercises. Her remains were taken to Swede Bend and laid beside those of her husband who preceded her, Rev. Berggren of Stratford performing the exercises at the grave. She leaves three daughters, two sons, thirty-one grandchildren, and several great grandchildren to mourn her death. Mrs. Johnson was an earnest Christian, and was loved and respected by all who knew her. As one of the early settlers of this part of the state, she experienced in common with them the hardships of those early days. The many friends of the family in the vicinity of Harcourt and Dayton sympathize with them in their hour of sorrow.
