Grave marker is actually incorrect as he never served in the Vietnam War and birth date is also incorrect.

Son of Janie Louise S. Hiott and step-son of Robert "R.P." Hiott
Brother of Effie Johns-Hiott
Half-brother of Janie Mae H. Gorman and Martha H. Andrews.

His correct date of birth is April 16, 1920. As a young man, determined to join the armed forces, he used the date engraved on his marker to gain entrance into the National Guard.

Cecil retired after 21 years as a Senior Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was also a former Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Cecil was retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

He attended the First Assembly of God, was a member of the Mariner Masonic Lodge #2, A.F.M. and a member of the American Legion Post #0284.

He was a devoted son, loving brother, terrific uncle and faithful husband to his first wife, Nora. He was married briefly to a second wife at the time of his death - she, sadly, took advantage of his kind heart and generosity whilst also attempting to alienate him from his family. She not only refused to allow him to be interred where he had instructed his family to bury him, by his parents, but she also refused to correct the information on his grave marker thus the correction can only be made here in print.

This soft-spoken, easy-going, kindhearted gentleman IS and will always be deeply missed. He is no longer suffering and in pain but he is greatly missed by his loving family.

Interment was with Masonic Rites.
