Cassell Jackson, 94, of Mountain Valley Community, passed away on Monday, November 09, 2015 at the home of Jerry and Mavis Rigney. He was born on February 10, 1921 to the late Louzetta Wells Jackson and Madison Monroe Jackson in Pittsylvania County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Frances Gilbert Jackson, daughter, Iona McGuire, son, Leon Jackson; son-in-law, Mack Earles, sisters, Kelsie Davis, Ranie Gibson and Mildred Gardner, brothers, Madison Jackson and Stonewall Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was of the holiness faith and was a charter member of the MVL Club and Henry County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his daughters, Demetrice “Dee” Jones (Jesse Jones) of Martinsville, VA and Mavis Rigney (Jerry) of Axton, VA, son, Darrell Jackson (Becky) of Axton, VA, son-in-law, Harold McGuire of Axton, VA; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by four step-grandsons, eight step great-grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Peyton Gilbert and Dean Ashby officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Norris Funeral Services and other times of the daughter Mrs. Jesse Jones “Dee” home, 4208 North Fork Road, Martinsville, VA 24112. Burial will be following the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
