Alvis C. Irwin, 87, of Channelview, passed away on July 31, 2009, after a lengthy illness and a broken heart, just a short eight days after the passing of his loving and devoted wife, Opal. A.C. was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army as a Technician Fifth Grade and honorably discharged on January 4, 1946. He is survived by his cherished children, Sandra Irwin Baggett and Alvis Lynn "Bubba" Irwin. A Memorial Service is planned for A.C. and Opal on September 2, 2009, their shared birth date, at 10:00 a.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran's Memorial Drive, 77038. In lieu of flowers and the usual remembrances, the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association or a favorite charity of choice.
