Col. Gustavus Swan Innis was the brother of Joseph Mock's wife Minerva Innis.

Col. Gustavus Swan Innis was born in Franklinton, Franklin Co. OH and died in Columbus, Franklin Co. OH.

He married Sarah Gae Morrill on March 25, 1845.

Col. Innis and Sarah were the parents of:
Henry Morrill Innis (1846-1927)
George Swan Innis (1850-1947)
Isabella Clifford (Innis) Matthews (1852-1902)
Frank William Innis (1854-1855)
Millie Merion (Innis) Bohannan (1858-8/22/1958)

Col. Innis graduated from Central College and taught school at Clintonville and S. Columbus. After his marriage he was a successful farmer, operating part of his father-in-law's farm. He served two years as warden of the Ohio Penitentiary and later was manager of the Boys Industrial School, the State Reform Farm at Lancaster. He enlisted 3/11/1864 as Colonel of the 133rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry and served until the close of the Civil War.
