Civil War Veteran.
In 1862 he enlisted in the 43rd IL Reg. and served 3 years. He then enlisted in Co. A 155th IL Inf for 7 months being honorably discharged from both.
He lived in St Jacob for 12 years where he worked as a cooper for the Valier & Spies Milling Co, and the last twenty years in Highland, where he followed the shoemakers trade. He was orphaned at the age of two and raised by Nicholas Trautner.
